Sandwich Panel Production Line

A sandwich panel production line is a fully automated manufacturing system designed to continuously produce insulated panels used in industrial buildings, cold storage facilities, clean rooms, and prefabricated construction.

GXTECH provides both continuous and discontinuous sandwich panel production lines, Our sandwich panel production lines support different core types (PU, PIR, rock wool), and can be configured per product requirements and local standards.

Continuous Sandwich Panel Production Line

The continuous sandwich panel production line is designed for manufacturers requiring high output and consistent quality. Panels are produced in a non-stop process, making it ideal for large-scale industrial production.

  • High production speed
  • Stable continuous operation
  • Excellent foam curing and bonding performance
  • Suitable for PU, PIR, and rock wool panels

This configuration is commonly used in projects with strict delivery schedules and standardized panel specifications.

Discontinuous Sandwich Panel Production Line

A discontinuous sandwich panel production line operates in batch mode and is suitable for manufacturers producing customized or small-batch panels.

  • Flexible panel length and thickness adjustment
  • Lower initial investment
  • Easier operation for startups or regional factories

This system is ideal for manufacturers prioritizing flexibility over maximum output.

Main Systems of a Sandwich Panel Production Line

A complete sandwich panel production line consists of several key systems working together.

Coil Handling System

The uncoiling system serves as the starting point of the production line. Raw metal coils (usually steel or aluminum) are loaded onto the decoiler. The machine then feeds the flat metal strip into the line with controlled tension and speed, ensuring a stable and continuous material supply for subsequent processing.

Roll Forming System

The flat metal strip enters the roll forming machine, where it passes through a series of precision-engineered roller dies. Each set of rollers gradually bends the sheet into the desired cross-sectional profile (e.g., corrugated, trapezoidal). This cold-forming process ensures consistent shape accuracy and structural integrity.

PU / PIR Foaming Machine

In the foaming stage, liquid polyurethane (or other insulating materials) is injected between the top and bottom metal panels. The liquid mixture expands rapidly, filling the cavity and bonding to the metal skins. As it cures, it forms a rigid, high-density insulation core with excellent thermal performance.

Double Belt Machine (Curing System)

The foamed panel then enters the double belt press, which consists of two synchronized, temperature-controlled steel belts. These belts apply uniform pressure and heat to the panel, ensuring the foam cures completely and the panel achieves its final thickness, flatness, and dimensional stability.

Flying Saw / Cross Cutting Machine

The flying saw is a high-precision cutting device that operates in sync with the moving panel. It automatically matches the panel’s speed, travels along with it, and makes a clean, burr-free cut to the pre-set length. After cutting, it quickly returns to its starting position for the next cycle.

Cooling Machine

After cutting, the panels enter the cooling and drying section. Here, they are conveyed slowly to allow the foam core to fully cure and stabilize. This step also helps release any residual heat, ensuring the panels are dimensionally stable and ready for handling.

Automatic Stacking Machine

The final stage is the stacking system. Finished panels are automatically aligned and stacked in neat bundles by a robotic or mechanical stacker. This ensures efficient packaging, easy transportation, and protection of the panel surfaces during storage and delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What types of sandwich panels can this production line manufacture?

This sandwich panel production line is designed for the production of PU, PIR, and rock wool sandwich panels. Panel thickness, width, and surface materials can be customized according to project requirements and local building standards.

2. Is the sandwich panel production line fully automatic?

Yes. The line operates automatically from coil feeding to panel stacking, reducing manual intervention.

3. What production capacity can this sandwich panel production line achieve?

Production capacity varies depending on panel type and configuration. Typical output ranges from medium-scale to high-capacity industrial production, and the line can be customized to meet specific annual output targets.

4. How many operators are required to run the production line?

Under normal operation, our continuous sandwich panel production line typically requires only 6–7 trained operators. The exact number may vary depending on the automation level, panel type, and auxiliary systems such as stacking and packaging.

5. What is the typical installation and commissioning time?

Installation and commissioning time depends on the line configuration and factory conditions. In most cases, mechanical installation, electrical setup, and test production are completed within approximately 3–6 months.

6. What factory space is required for installing a sandwich panel production line?

Factory space requirements depend on line length, panel size, and auxiliary equipment. A layout proposal can be provided based on available workshop dimensions.

7. Does the supplier provide on-site installation and technical support?

Yes. We dispatch 1–2 experienced engineers to the customer site to provide installation supervision, commissioning, and operator training, supporting the project from equipment installation through to stable production startup.
